This page introduces the parties who are for and against the "separation of church and state." On the Left are excerpts from the "Separation of Church and State Home Page." On the right is our rebuttal. Despite claims of sympathy for Christianity, those who defend "separation of church and state" as it is modernly understood are hostile to Christianity and are attempting to convert America from a Christian Nation to a Secular Humanist Religion (and have largely succeeded). Vine & Fig Tree defends the religion of Christianity; separationists defend the religion of Secular Humanism.

Why did we create this home page? | Why did we bother to rebut their home page? |
Our concern in these pages is to explain and defend the constitutional principle of separation of church and state. | The religious right does NOT attack the
principle as it is defined by the Constitution and the Founding Fathers. The Religious
Right does not even attack the principle as it is stated by the Secular Humanists; only
the hidden agenda of the Secularists is attacked. There isn't a soul in America today who denies the Constitutional principle of "separation of church and state." All that principle meant was that Congress would not impose a form of worship on the states, and that no ecclesiastical denomination would be able to use the power of the newly-created federal government to gain an advantage over any other ecclesiastical denomination. In the links below, we will see that the Secular Humanists admit that this is what the Constitution required. There is obviously a whole lot more at stake here. The Separationists have a hidden agenda. |
We are concerned that this principle is under attack by the religious right. | We think the religious right is not Theocratic enough. But the Religious Right does not attack the "separation of church and state" as it was understood by the Framers of the Constitution 200 years ago. |
For a fuller explanation of our philosophy and point of view, look at the following: | These links are important. |
