"'. . . that He may teach us about His ways
And that we may walk in His paths.'
For from Zion will go forth the Law
Even the Word of God from Jerusalem."
Micah 4:2
We admit that the views expressed in this essay are unlike those of many churches and theologians. Our desire is not to be popular or mainstream, but to please the Savior and be more like Him. Here are the conclusions we have drawn from the Bible; please drop us a line and correct us if you find us veering to the left or to the right.[165]
1. Obedience is central to the Gospel message.
2. Faith without works is dead.
3. The Protestant Reformers mis-reacted to the Catholics.
4. The True Christian wants to become more like Christ.
5. The word "law" is used many different ways in Scripture.
6. "Love" is not a substitute for obedience to God's Law.
7. God sent His Spirit to empower us to obey His Statutes.
8. The "Fruit" produced by the Spirit-filled Christian is according to God's Law.
9. "Legalism" is a confusing term, though Satan probably likes it.
Nothing in this paper should be construed as a denial of our utter, total dependence upon the Lord and His grace through Jesus Christ our Savior. Nor is this an attempt to say certain individuals or churches are not Christian. But we are deeply saddened by the "antinomianism," or lawlessness, which pervades Christendom. Why on earth are Christian leaders telling their people to get away from God's Holy Law? We should be fervently praying that God would send His Spirit upon our land that we would turn to His Law and obey His Word!
"Oh how Love I Thy Law! It is my meditation all the day!
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage forever:
for they are the rejoicing of my heart"
